reproductive system
• males produce, on average, fewer total germ cells but accumulate more ES in the lumen of seminiferous tubules
• male germ cells grown in culture exhibit higher mortality than wild-type germ cells
• high rate of head or DNA material loss in sperm isolated from the epididymis
• germ cell progression through meiosis is hindered
• germ cell content at 3, 4, 7, 10, and 15 weeks of age shows that the ratio of germ cell populations remains stable throughout this time unlike in wild-type males which show that primary spermatocytes diminish and rapid growth of spermatids and spermatozoa is seen
