behavior/neurological
N
• mice exhibit normal anxiety-like behavior, motor coordination and learning, and cognitive functions
• in a sucrose preference test
• in a forced swim test, mice spend longer time in an immobile posture compared with wild-type mice
• however, acute and chronic administration of sertraline or imipramine decreases the amount of time spent in immobile posture
• in the home cage and a novel environment
• however, acute and chronic treatment with sertraline or chronic imipramine treatment increases locomotor activity
• mice exhibit social withdrawal in a social interaction test compared with wild-type mice
• however, acute and chronic treatment with sertraline or chronic imipramine treatment attenuates decreased social interaction

homeostasis/metabolism
• serotonin turnover is reduced in the hippocampus and amygdala compared to in wild-type mice
• potassium stimulation fails to increase serotonin levels in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus unlike in wild-type mice
• in the prefrontal cortex
• decreased 5-HIAA in the amygdala
• in the hippocampus
