homeostasis/metabolism
• after 8 months on a high-fat diet, mice weight 15% less than similarly treated wild-type mice
• when fed a high-fat diet for 4 months, mice exhibit reduced oxygen consumption compared with similarly treated Ucp3tm1Rei homozygotes
• when fed a high-fat diet for 1 to 3 months, mice exhibit improved glucose tolerance compared with similarly treated wild-type mice
• however, glucose tolerance after 4 or 8 months on a high fat diet is the same as in similarly treated wild-type mice
• after 3 and 4 months on a high-fat diet, mice exhibit increased insulin sensitivity compared with similarly treated wild-type mice
• however, after 8 months on a high-fat diet mice exhibit normal insulin sensitivity
• when fed a high-fat diet for 8 months, mice exhibit a 20% lower metabolic efficiency than in similarly treated wild-type mice

adipose tissue
• 36% smaller than in Ucp3tm1Rei when fed a high-fat diet for 8 months

growth/size/body
• after 8 months on a high-fat diet, mice weight 15% less than similarly treated wild-type mice
