Strain of Origin:  (C57BL/6 x CBA)F2
Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(ACTA1-UCP3)1Clap expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsThe transgene consists of a human ACTA1 promoter and a human UCP3 gene. ACTA1 drives transgene expression in skeletal muscle. (J:69792)

Notes
Three transgenic lines were created and bred to homozygosity. The highest expressing line was used for characterization. Quantitative RT-PCR analysis showed that transgene expression is confined to skeletal muscle and brown adipose tissue. Transgene expression is 66-fold of wild-type in skeletal muscle and 50% of wild-type in brown adipose tissue.
