Mutation details: The transgene consists of a Camk2a promoter fused to a Fyn isoform B cDNA carrying a TAT to TTT nucleotide substitution at codon 531. Camk2a drives expression in forebrain neurons late in development. This mutation renders Fyn constitutively activated. Transgene expression in the brain was confirmed by Northern blot, RNase protection assay, RT-PCR, and in situ hybridization. (J:59490)

Notes
Six transgenic lines (M3, M27, M47, M58, M78, and M84) carrying the mutant Fyn gene were created. Mice from lines M3, M47, and M84 showed higher mortality (died at 8, 5, and 15 weeks, repectively), and bred poorly and were excluded from biochemical analysis. Line M58 displayed the lowest amount of transgenic protein.
