Homozygous null male mice are initially fertile but show progressive germ cell loss, seminiferous tubule degeneration and spermatogonia defects leading to sterility. Females are sterile and show premature ovarian aging, persistent estrous, elevated FSH levels and reduced primordial follicle numbers.
