Mice homozygous for a reporter allele that encodes an 'open' syntaxin-1B protein conformation are viable but display severe ataxia, reduced chromaffin vesicle docking, accelerated synaptic vesicle fusion, and lethal epileptic seizures after 2 weeks of age.
