The tw18 deletion extends over 4.3Mbp of Chromosome 17. The 3 end of the deletion is found approximately at position Chr 17:23600000 whereas the 5 end was roughly positioned between between Chromosome position 19.19 and 19.33Mb. This recessive lethal allele is a member of the t⁹ complementation group and was recovered from a recombinational event between t^w11 found in a mouse captured in Storrs, Connecticut and a wild-type Chromosome 17; t^w18 itself, has not been found in the wild.
