Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit partial neonatal lethality due to cardiorespiratory failure, increased glycogen level in skeletal and cardiac muscle, decreased energy expenditure, abnormalities in cellular respiration and muscle electrophysiology, and impaired exercise endurance.
