Homozygotes for a knock-out allele show mid to late gestation lethality, developmental delay, oligodactyly, subcutaneous edema, and severely impaired cardiac and placental development. Adult homozygotes fail to regulate synaptic plasticity and exhibit hippocampus-associated learning deficits.
