  Bam5R, VL30 and IAP were used to screen a genomic library derived from mouse x hamster cell hybrid R4 4.1. This hybrid contains mouse Chromosomes 17 and 18. 173 cosmid clones were isolated and of these 145 were detected with Bam5R and 28 with VL30 and IAP. From the isolates there were 17 clones that provided useful RFLPs of which 12 mapped to the t-complex. D17Aus17, D17Aus31, D17Aus49, D17Aus53 and D17Aus144 map to the region of the t-complex present in t¹⁸ within a region bounded distally by D17Leh89and proximally by D17Leh66. Mapping distal to the t¹⁸ breakpoint were D17Aus7, D17Aus16, D17Aus57, D17Aus100, D17Aus126 and D17Aus127. Overlapping cosmids D17Aus127 and D17Aus64 reside within the H-2K - Cryaa interval. D17Aus126 maps at the t¹⁸ deletion and is distal to Itpr3^tf and Hba-ps4. D17Aus7 maps within t¹² and is distal to Pim1 and proximal to Itpr3^tf. The following gene order was suggested: Tcp10a - Tcp10b - D17Aus17 - D17Aus31 - D17Aus49 - D17Aus53 - D17Aus144 - H-2K - D17Aus127 - D17Aus64 -Cryaa- D17Aus16 - D17Aus57 - Pim1 - D17Aus7 - D17Aus100 - Itpr3^tf - Hba-ps4 - Fu - D17Aus126 - cld.
