Notes
  • Experiment
Five genomic clones derived from ICR Swiss liver DNA were used to compare 40 kb restriction maps of the Agt region from BALB/c and Swiss mice. A major insertional event was observed 9 kb upstream from the transcription start site of Agt in Swiss mice. This insertion was identified as an intracisternal A-particle (IAP). The symbol given to this locus is Iap8-1. Southern analysis using Swiss Agt fragments to probe both Swiss and BALB/c DNA digests confirmed the insertion site in Swiss DNA. Iap8-1 segregates among inbred strains.
