  • Experiment
Mouse genomic cosmid clone cosB carries sequences 5' to the Hoxd12 gene on mouse Chromosome 2. Southern analysis of this cosmid using human HOX-4I probe identified a hybridizing sequence, Hoxd13, 5kb 5' to Hoxd12. Sequencing of a HindIII subclone from cosB confirmed this result. Hoxd8, Hoxd9, Hoxd10, Hoxd11, Hoxd12 and Hoxd13 are spaced regularly 5-10kb apart on a 60kb segment of DNA. No additional Hoxd homeobox genes have been detected 5' of Hoxd13.
