  To map the Jbo phenotype the founder C3HeNBALB/cENUF1-
  Jbo/+ mutant mouse was maintained via backcrossing to inbred C3H/HeN.
  Jbo mice were identified by the lack of a Preyer reflex. 41
  DNAs were initially pooled from affected individuals and a genome
  scan was initiated. To facilitate the location of Jbo a high-resolution genetic
  map was constructed using 242 affected N4 and N5
  backcross progeny and microsatellite markers. The Jbo phenotype was shown to map within a
  1.5 Mb region flanked by Eif5a2 and D3Mit178. Jbo was shown to be mutant form of Evi1.
