Notes
  • Experiment
In confirming that the a18H mutation results from an inversion, the authors isolated a series of regional phage P1 clones from mouse Chromosome 2. Sequence analysis of exon-trap products revealed the presence of the Itch gene distal to the agouti locus(a). Both genes transcribe in a proximal to distal direction, relative to centromere. Locus a was found to contain the proximal break in the a18H mutation, and Itch was found to contain the distal breakpoint
