Caption Most E9.5 Exoc3l4em1(IMPC)J/Exoc3l4em1(IMPC)J (Exoc3l4-/-) embryos are normal as is the mutant shown above. By E10.5 most Exoc3l4-/- embryos are smaller than littermates but only a minority delayed. Almost half have abnormal hearts and some accompanied by pericardial edema, while others have cardiac edema. A minority display no gross defects. By E11.5 Exoc3l4-/- embryos are dying (such as the one displayed here) or undergoing resorption.
