Image
Caption Almost all AlleleSymbol(MGI:6388376|0)/Chp1em1(IMPC)Tcp (Chp1-/-) embryos display delay at E8.5 and a majority also display an abnormal allantois which is blebby at the tip and irregularly shaped such as the one pictured here. By E9.5 all Chp1-/- mutants are delayed, none have turned appropriately and almost all have profoundly abnormal head shape and most have failed to close the cranial neural tube. In a minority of E9.5 mutants the allantois appears to have attached but in all cases this attachment was fragile and easily disturbed during dissection. Most E9.5 Chp1-/-display abnormal heart development and when dissected intact, the majority appeared to have yolk sac defects.
