Caption Bltp2em1(IMPC)J/Bltp2em1(IMPC)J (Bltp2-/-) embryos are mainly normal at E9.5. By E10.5 a third of the mutants are resorbing/dying while those that are alive display a range of defects as depicted. A minority are less severe. At 10.5 most Bltp2-/- embryos that are alive have heart defects, half have abnormal head shape and some have abnormal blood pooling in the embryo. By E11.5 all recovered Bltp2 mutants are smaller than controls and while most are abnormal a few are surprisingly normal in appearance as the one on the left.
