Phenotype Image Detail
Image
Caption Zmym2em1(IMPC)J/Zmym2em1(IMPC)J (Zmym2-/-) embryonic phenotype. At E8.5 most of the Zmym2-/- embryos are relatively normal while some, particularly those that are older than E8.5, have an abnormally shaped head. By E9.5, all Zmym2-/- embryos are small when compared with control littermates and slightly less than half delayed, half display turning defects and almost all display abnormally shaped heads such as those in the image. Cranial neural tube closure is incomplete in half of the Zmym2-/- embryos and branchial arch/pouch defects are detected in most. The yolk sacs of many mutant embryos lack proper vascular development. E10.5 Zmym2-/- embryos are delayed and all have abnormal head shape, abnormal heart shape, overall delay and most display incomplete turning or abnormal tail shape.
