Placental phenotype in Usb1^em1(IMPC)Bay/Usb1^em1(IMPC)Bay (Usb1-/-) embryos. At E9.5, Usb1-/- placentas are properly developed and comparable to controls. At E10.5, Usb1-/- placentas exhibit multiple labyrinth zone defects compared to controls. In KO placentas, the Tfeb+ labyrinth trophoblast layer is reduced compared to controls. Chorioallantoic branching is nearly absent, as Gcm1 expression is sparse and remains at the chorioallantoic interface.
