Tedc2^em1(IMPC)J/Tedc2^em1(IMPC)J (Tedc2-/-) embryonic phenotype. Tedc2-/- embryos appear normal at E7.5. By E8.5 Tedc2-/- are mainly normal in appearance but over half have an abnormal head shape. By E9.5 all Tedc2-/- embryos are easily discerned from their control counterparts. The most penetrant phenotypes include failure to turn, kinked caudal neural tube, laterally splayed and open cranial neural tube, abnormal head shape, the heart shape is abnormal and the heart itself often edemic.
