Spty2d1^em1(IMPC)J/Spty2d1^em1(IMPC)J (Spty2d1-/-) placenta phenotypes. At E10.5, the Spty2d1-/- placentas examined exhibit a reduction in the Tpbpa+ spongiotrophoblast (SpT) layer. While the thickness of the Tfeb+ labyrinth trophoblast layer is comparable to controls, elevated Tfeb signal intensity suggests an increased density of Tfeb+ cells. At E11.5, Spty2d1-/- placentas show a more severe manifestation of the E10.5 defects. By E12.5, Spty2d1-/- placentas exhibit a severely reduced Tpbpa+ SpT layer, diminished Tfeb+ labyrinth layer, and impaired Gcm1+ chorioallantoic branching.
