E9.5 Slc30a9^em1(IMPC)Bay/Slc30a9^em1(IMPC)Bay (Slc30a9-/-) placental phenotypes. At E9.5, Slc30a9-/- placentas exhibit impaired chorioallantoic attachment as well as multiple labyrinth zone defects when compared with controls. Failure of chorioallantoic attachment is observed in most KO conceptuses examined (n = 8/14). However, in the conceptuses with normal attachment (n = 6/14), less allantoic mesoderm is observed attached to the chorion compared to controls. In the KO placentas, the Tfeb+ region fails to expand, remaining a thin layer, and Gcm1+ chorioallantoic branching is severely impaired.
