All E9.5 Kctd5^em1(IMPC)J/Kctd5^em1(IMPC)J (-/-) placentas examined (n=3) exhibit a diminished Tpbpa+ spongiotrophoblast layer, abnormal chorioallantoic interface (reduction in allantoic mesoderm), and multiple labyrinth zone defects in the KO compared to controls. The Tfeb+ region fails to expand and Gcm1+ chorioallantoic branching is severely impaired.
