Caption Ehbp1em1(IMPC)J/Ehbp1em1(IMPC)J (Ehbp1-/-) E8.5 embryos are sometimes smaller than litter mates (as depicted) but overall difficult to distinguish from control litter mates. By E9.5 almost all mutants are incompletely turned and have abnormally shaped heads (particularly forebrain and midbrain). A majority display caudal neural tube kinks, abnormally shaped hearts, branchial arch defects and the tip of the tail appears misshapen. A minority of mutants also have incomplete cranial neural tube closure and some have pale yolk sacs. At E10.5 (not depicted) all -/- conceptus have pale yolk sacs and many are dying.
