Merged confocal images (E,H). Asterisks mark false-positive immunoreactive cells in the vitreous region in C-H; these cells have a ring-like pattern of immunofluorescence. I-N: Cells marked by asterisks indicate M-phase cells in the VZ that are not DLX-2-immunoreactive (I-K) or DLX-1-immunoreactive (L-N). The cell marked by an arrowhead in I-K shows an M-phase cell in the VZ that expresses DLX-2. Column-oriented cells in the retinal neuroepithelium (arrows in J,K,M,N).
