Whole-mount in situ hybridizations in XY^ZAL gonads. Mildly feminized XY^ZAL testis (A,D,G,J), severely feminized XY^ZAL ovotestis (B,E,H,K), and completely sex-reversed XY^ZAL ovary (C,F,I,L). Gonads are positioned such that the anterior pole is at the top of each panel. Arrows in (G) and (J) demarcate the boundary between feminized and masculinized regions.
