reproductive system
• during adult spermatogenesis, almost no spermatocytes are observed unlike in wild-type mice
• while undifferentiated spermatogonia appear normal, differentiated cells degenerate
• mice lack follicles and their development cannot be initiated by treatment with gonadotrophin
• at P3, oocytes and follicles are smaller and asymmetrical compared to in wild-type mice
• at P7, most follicles degenerate and surrounding cells remain flat unlike in wild-type mice
• follicular development is defective in the primordial-to-primary follicle formation
• despite normal sexual behavior, mice are sterile
