• mice inoculated with SARS-Cov-2 USA-WA1/2020 virus
• mice develop a significant viral burden that persists in the lungs for at least 7 days post-infection, with a nearly 100,000-fold increase in presence of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid RNA in the lungs and show an increase in SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein in lung tissues 7 days post-infection
• an increase in total CD45+ lymphocytes in the lungs are seen 48 hours after SARS-CoV-2 infection, however no significant inflammation-induced pathology in the lungs is seen, most likely due to the defective innate and humoral immune response systems in the NSG background
