Spag11aem2Mgef mutation (0 available); any Spag11a mutation (6 available)
phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
reproductive system
• spermatozoa exhibit tail abnormalities, with bent and rounded tails
• spermatozoa exhibit head abnormalities, with tilted heads
• foci of granuloma in the tubules of caput epididymis
• hyperplasia of mucosal epithelial cells and foci of granuloma in the tubules in the caput epididymis
• diethylnitrosamine (DEN)-treated mice exhibit mild to moderate mucosal epithelial cell hyperplasia, as well as dysplastic alternations in a few mucosal epithelial cells in the caput epididymis
• homozygous males mated with wild-type females show reduced litter size and sperm count, indicating reduced male fertility
• sperm shows failure of the acrosome reaction
• however, sperm capacitation appears normal

neoplasm
• DEN-treated mice exhibit mild to moderate mucosal epithelial cell hyperplasia, as well as dysplastic alternations in a few mucosal epithelial cells in the caput epididymis indicating a higher susceptibility towards chemically induced tumorigenesis of the caput epididymis

immune system
• foci of granuloma in the tubules of caput epididymis

homeostasis/metabolism
• DEN-treated mice exhibit mild to moderate mucosal epithelial cell hyperplasia, as well as dysplastic alternations in a few mucosal epithelial cells in the caput epididymis indicating a higher susceptibility towards chemically induced tumorigenesis of the caput epididymis

cellular
• spermatozoa exhibit tail abnormalities, with bent and rounded tails
• spermatozoa exhibit head abnormalities, with tilted heads
