renal/urinary system
• in males and females on a high fat diet compared to diet matched controls with a mild increase in fat deposition
• in primary kidney tubule cells mitochondria are fragmented or characterized by a prominent rod-like shape with perturbed crista
• mild dilation in males and females on a high fat diet
• show increased susceptibility to cisplatin or folic acid induced kidney injury with more severe histological changes and greater elevation in markers of impaired function
• in primary renal tubule cells mitochondrial respiration is impaired
• treatment with ferrostatin-1 alleviates the cisplatin induced kidney injury

homeostasis/metabolism
• following injection with cisplatin or treatment with folic acid to induce kidney injury compared to treatment matched controls
• however, baseline BUN is similar to controls
• in females on a high fat diet
• in males and females on a high fat diet compared to diet matched controls
• however, no significant change in HDL or total cholesterol on a normal chow diet
• higher serum but not liver triglycerides in females but not males on normal chow or high fat diet
• in males and females
• altered amino acid metabolism in cultured primary kidney cells
• show increased susceptibility to cisplatin or folic acid induced kidney injury with more severe histological changes and greater elevation in markers of impaired function

cellular
• in primary kidney tubule cells mitochondria are fragmented or characterized by a prominent rod-like shape with perturbed crista
• in primary renal tubule cells mitochondrial respiration is impaired
• higher levels of oxidized phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and lower levels of lyso-PE in cultured kidney tubule cells

growth/size/body
• in males and females on a high fat diet compared to diet matched controls with a mild increase in fat deposition
