• in vitro, LPS-primed bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) show a nearly complete loss of IL-1beta secretion in response to treatment with ATP or nigericin (NLRP3 inflammasome stimuli)
• in vivo, mice i.p. injected with monosodium urate crystals (MSU) show a ~80% decrease in IL-1beta secretion in the peritoneal lavage fluid, whereas inflammasome-independent TNF-alpha secretion is unaffected
