neoplasm
• mice exhibit a spectrum of urothelial neoplasia ranging from dysplasia to muscle-invasive urothelial carcinoma that resembles human urothelial carcinomas
• 14% of mice develop only low-grade noninvasive tumors
• 29% of mice develop either invasive carcinoma or carcinoma-in-situ
• all invasive tumors show muscle invasion and muscle-invasive tumors consist of malignant cells infiltrating into the muscularis
• papillary carcinomas are multifocal with fibrovascular stalks projecting into the bladder lumen
• PTEN protein expression is lost in both noninvasive and muscle-invasive bladder cancers

renal/urinary system

• PTEN protein expression is lost in both noninvasive and muscle-invasive bladder cancers
• mice develop bladder outlet obstruction secondary to tumor formation starting at 8 months of age
