• significant decrease in the levels of protein complexes containing the neurotransmitter receptors dopamine receptor D1, dopamine receptor D2, 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1A, and 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 7 in the hippocampus
• significantly decreased immunoreactivity for dopamine receptor D1 (D1R) on hippocampal dendritic spines, with no apparent change in the shaft region
• total number of dendritic spines on apical dendrites of CA1 pyramidal cells is significantly reduced relative to wild-type controls
• markedly reduced number of mushroom, thin, and stubby dendritic spines on CA1 hippocampal neurons, whereas numbers of other unclassified types remain normal
• moderate but significant reduction in memory-related high-frequency-induced synaptic strengthening in hippocampal slices
