N normal phenotype
limbs/digits/tail
• in some animals (20%), only digits 4-5 are malformed
• in many animals (70%), forelimbs have only 1-2 digits
• forelimbs are less severely affected than hindlimbs
• forelimbs often lack some digits (70%) except 1-2; 10% of animals show a truncation below the humerus
• all mice display limb deformities, with hemizygotes displaying less severe defects
• only small fragments of femur are present in severe cases
• some animals (20%) have tibia and distal cartilaginous fragments
• most animals lack hindlimbs, only small fragments of femur are present (80%)

skeleton

N normal phenotype
limbs/digits/tail
• all mice display limb deformities
• most common forelimb phenotype is loss of digits 3, 4, and/or 5 (69% of mice); presence of only a single digit occurs rarely (3%)
• some mice have hindpaw ectopic digits (8% of limbs) protruding from ventral handplate or distal zeugopod; these digits have poorly formed body elements
• extra partial digits are occasionally seen in forelimbs (10%) and hindlimbs (13%); ectopic digits do not show preferential anterior-posterior localization
• forelimbs are less severely affected than hindlimbs
• when partial ulna loss occurs, radius is bowed
• complete loss of the ulna is observed in about 8% of mice
• complete loss of the ulna is observed in about 8% of mice
• hindlimbs often shown nearly complete absence of autopod with one malformed digit composed of cartilaginous fragments distal to the zeugopod

skeleton
• when partial ulna loss occurs, radius is bowed
• complete loss of the ulna is observed in about 8% of mice
• complete loss of the ulna is observed in about 8% of mice
