• unlike in Lcp2 null mice, gamma/delta TCR+ thymocyte numbers are normal
• following stimulation with anti-CD3 and anti-CD28, CD4+CD44low T cells exhibit decreased proliferation compared to in heterozygous controls
• however, proliferation in response to PMA plus ionomycin is normal
• at 4 weeks compared with heterozygote controls
• mice exhibit a minor developmental block at the DN3 to DN4 checkpoint unlike in heterozygote controls
• the percentage of DN4 thymocytes is mildly decreased compared to in heterozygote controls
• however, the absolute number of DN thymocytes is normal
• the total number of DP thymocytes is moderately decreased compared to in heterozygote controls
• the percentage of double negative thymocytes is slightly increased compared to in heterozygote controls
• the percentage of DN3 thymocytes is moderately increased compared to in heterozygote controls
• the percentage of DP thymocytes is increased compared to in heterozygote controls
• the percentage of CD4+ SP thymocytes is reduced compared to in heterozygote controls
• a relatively small decrease in CD4-CD8+ thymocytes, compared to in heterozygote controls, is observed
• mice exhibit a minor developmental block at the DN3 to DN4 checkpoint unlike in heterozygote controls
• at 4 weeks compared with heterozygote controls
• in the thymus and 50% in the spleen compared to in heterozygote control
• the number of CD4+ cells in the peripheral lymph nodes is decreased compared to in heterozygote controls
• the absolute number of CD8+ SP thymocytes and splenocytes is reduced by 50% compared to in heterozygote controls
• the number of CD8+ cells in the peripheral lymph nodes is decreased compared to in heterozygote controls
• the frequency of effector-like CD44highCD62LlowCD4+ T cells is increased while the percentage of CD44lowCD62LhighCD4+ T cells is decreased compared to in heterozygote controls
• following stimulation with anti-CD3 and anti-CD28, CD4+ T cells produce less IL2 compared with similarly treated heterozygote cells
