digestive/alimentary system
• diffuse hyperplasia of the lymphoid tissue containing a large germinal center is seen in the ileum in 4- to 6-month old mutants
• NK cell numbers are reduced in the lamina propria of the ileum

hematopoietic system
• proliferation of splenic T cells is increased in the presence of IL-2
• proliferation of thymocytes and splenocytes is increased in the presence of PMA plus ionomycin or anti-CD3 plus anti-CD28 compared to wild-type littermates
• the number of CD8+ cells in the spleen and lymph node is reduced by about 40%
• however, thymic cellularity and T cell populations are normal
• the number of natural killer T cells in the spleen, bone marrow, and lung are reduced
• the number of intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes and lamina propria lymphocytes were increased 4- and 4.7-fold, respectively
• the percentage of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells is increased about 2-fold in the lymph nodes but not in the spleen
• natural killer cell maturation is impaired in the spleen
• the number of natural killer cells in the spleen, bone marrow, and lung are reduced; however the percentage of CD3+ T cells is not significantly different from wild-type
• the number of precursor and mature natural killer cells differentiated from hematopoietic stem cells in vitro is reduced
• mutant mice reject RMA-S tumor cells less efficiently
• natural killer cell activity is impaired in the spleen
