• however, the number of thymic IFN-gamma+ gamma-delta T cells
• 1.5-2X larger than normal
• marginal zone B cells virtually absent
• splenic B cells not organized in follicles
• B cells intermixed with T cells around central arteriole
• absence of peripheral lymph nodes
• sites of lymph nodes occupied by "caverenous" spaces with endothelial linings
• massive infiltrations of lymphocytes into perivascular spaces of lungs, liver, pancreas, submandibular gland, mediastinum, mesentery, cortex of suprarenal gland and kidney
• infiltration mostly by CD4+ T cells and B220+ B cells
• in TCRbeta+CD4+CD44hi thymocytes
