vision/eye
• eye tumors develop at 2 to 3 months of age with pigmented cells observed in the inguinal lymph nodes and, in some mice, the spleen
• in 1-day old mice, tumors are present in the anterior part of the retinal pigmented epithelium and the optic nerve
• in 14-day old mice, tumors are advanced further and the posterior eye cavity is filled with tumor cells
• tumor cells are poorly pigmented or nonpigmented
• however, islet of pigmented cells can be observed in the optic nerve

mortality/aging
• mice die at 11.7 weeks of age likely due to proliferation of tumor cells in the brain and near the optic chiasm
