Anterior homeosis of sacral vertebrae of wild type and Hoxd11tm1Ipc/Hoxd11tm1Ipc mice

reproductive system
• only 3 of 13 males produced one litter each

skeleton
• in 100 of 106 mice the pisiform heard is abnormal
• in 69 of 106 mice the palmar process of the scapholunate is abnormal
• in 46 of 106 mice the scapholunate dorsal aspect has lunate enlargement
• in 28 of 106 mice the sesamoid is absent, 16 of 106 mice the sesamoid is small and in 4 of 106 mice the sesamoid is big
• at E15.5, there is a delay in chondrification in the lunate versus the scaphoid balstema
• in 24 of 106 mice the scapholunate and pyramidal bones are fused
• in 95 of 106 mice the pyramidal and pisiform bones are fused
• the phalanx of digit II is slightly smaller than in wild-type mice

• in 96 of 106 mice metacarpal bones II, III and IV are shortened by 10% 3 days after birth and by 30% in adults
• in some mice the ilium articulates to one vertebrae more posterior than in normal sacral vertebrae
• in 4 mice, the ilia is articulated to 2 distinct vertebrae (S0 on the right and S1 on the left)
• some mice have an addition (S0) sacral vertebrae which appears as an intermediate vertebrae
• 38% of mice have an additional lumbar vertebrae
• some mice have an intermediate sacral vertebrae with transverse processes that are not tightly joined to the ilium and smaller than normal for the first sacral transverse processes
• in 4 mice the S0 vertebrae is asymmetric with a lumbar like transverse process on the left side and first sacral-like transverse processes on the right side and the ilia is articulated to 2 distinct vertebrae (S0 on the right and S1 on the left)in 4 mice the S0 vertebrae is asymmetric with a lumbar like transverse process on the left side and first sacral-like transverse processes on the right side and the ilia is articulated to 2 distinct vertebrae (S0 on the right and S1 on the left)
• S0 and S1 exhibit an anterior transformation
