• no major defects in peripheral sensory or motor projections are observed compared to wild-type
• projections of mossy fibers to granule cell dendrites in contralateral dentate gyrus appear normal
• cell differentiation and migration in hippocampus in embryos appears normal
• projections to and from a number of neuronal populations that normally express Nrp2, including axons in lateral olfactory tracts, appear normal at E13.5-17.5 in Nrp2-null mutants
• tract is either completely absent, or reduced in size with its axon bundles defasciculated, compared to wild-type and controls at P30
• posterior arm of anterior commissure is abnormal, apparent at ages E19.5, P0, and P5
• habenular axons form habenulo-interpeduncular tract, and tract is very reduced or absent in adult mice
• in a few mice, fasciculus retroflexus is still present, but axons are highly defasciculated
• in explants of dentate gyrus and CA3 neurons at E15 and E17, neurons are not repelled by Sema3F in collagen gel coculture as are axons from wild-type mice
• responses to Sema3A are unaffected
• fibers from infrapyramidal bundle to not join main bundle after leaving hilus, but extend underneath pyramidal layer to apex of curvature of pyramidal cell layer; these mossy fibers have developed mossy fiber boutons and may make contact with nearby dendrites
• at E10.5, pronounced defasciculation of the oculomotor nerve is seen, compared to wild-type and heterozygous mice where axons course in a tight bundle
• ophthalmic branch of trigeminal nerve shows mild defasciculation
• at E11.5, no obvious trochlear nerve is observed
• dorsal funiculus is significantly reduced in size and much narrower relative to wild-type and heterozygotes at E11.5
