Mutation description

• Mutation details: LoxP sites and an frt-flanked neomycin selection cassette were inserted to flank exon 6 which encompasses the entire protein-coding region. The neomycin selection cassette was removed in ES cells via transfection with Flpe recombinase prior to the creation of mice carrying the loxP-flanked exon 6 allele. Cre-mediated recombination in the germline resulted in the deletion of exon 6. RT-PCR analysis of retinal tissue showed loss of the exon 5/6 junction, but not exon 4/5 junction, from transcripts obtained from global knockout mice, confirming deletion of the coding region.
