Mutation details: This transgene consists of the rat Kcnj8 cDNA with a glycine to aspartate substitution at amino acid 343 (Gly343Asp), rendering ATP-insensitivity, under the control of the CX1 promoter which contains the chicken beta-actin promoter followed by the enhanced green fluorescent protein coding region (including a stop codon) flanked by loxP sites. EGFP is ubiquitously expressed unless cre-recombinase is expressed which excises the EGFP and results in expression of the mutant Kcnj8. Lines 9 and 10 are the high expressing lines, with line 9 entered as the representative line.
