Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(Gnrh1-Fgfr1)1Tsai expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsA truncated form of Fgfr1 lacking the intracellular tyrosine kinase domain was ligated downstream of the rabbit beta-globin intron and placed under the control of the rat Gnrh1 promoter/enhancer region. The human growth hormone polyA sequence was inserted at the 3' end of the Fgfr1 cDNA. A transcript of approximately 1.5 kb was present only in the forebrain, where Gnhr1 neurons reside, corresponding to the size of the mutant Fgfr1. Expression was not found in the hindbrain or liver. Notes
Another founder line, G-FGFRm-5, was also established, but two different transgene derived transcripts were detected. Expression of these transcripts were also detected in hindbrain as well as in the forebrain. The G-FGFRm-5 line was not studied further.
