Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion

Mutation detailsThe gene was disrupted by replacement of exon 3 with a neomycin resistance cassette via homologous recombination. Absence of protein (both long and short forms) was confirmed by Western blot analysis of retinal extracts from homozygous mutant mice. Western blotting of mutant protein extracts also revealed loss of RGS6, RGS7, and RGS11 and a reduction of RGS9 (<5% of wild-type levels) in mutant retinas, as well as absence of RGS9 and RGS7 in mutant striatum, indicating instability of RGS proteins containing the G protein gamma-like (GGL) domain.
