Homozygous mice display severe obesity, polyphagia, increased fat and lean mass, increased aggression to other mice, elevated leptin, insulin, cholesterol, and glucose levels, insulin resistance, and impaired glucose tolerance. Hemizygous mice show obesity and elevated LDL cholesterol.
