Caption (A) Model of the DNA construct used for Muc5ac gene disruption to generate the Muc5actm1.1Evns allele. LoxP sites (yellow flags) were inserted 1173 bp upstream and 265 bp downstream of the Muc5ac translational start site. A neomycin resistance cassette flanked by FRT sites located directly adjacent to the 5' LoxP site was used for positive selection, and the selection cassette was removed by crossing animals with ROSA26-FLPe knockin mice (not depicted).
