A: 12 hour old wild-type (+/+), Cldn1^tm1Sts/Cldn1⁺ (+/-) and Cldn1^tm1Sts/Cldn1^tm1Sts(-/-) mice. Homozygous mutant mice were characterized by wrinkled skin and died within 1 day of birth.
