Loss of tyrosine hydroxylase immunoreactivity (TH-IR) in the locus coeruleus (LC), but not substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) or striatum of Prkn^tm1Tmd/Prkn^tm1Tmd mice. Immunohistochemical staining for TH (C-F: with Nissl counterstain) was performed on coronal brain sections from wild type (A,C & E) and mutant mice (B,D & F) mice. (A & B) Striatum. (C & D) Midbrain with SN and ventral tegmental area. (E & F) LC. (Insets) A lower magnification of the same sections to verify that both pictures represent equivalent planes. Scale bar: 200um
