Inbred Strains of Mice: NSY

NSY

Inbr F47 (Sept. 1996). Albino. Origin: From Jcl:ICR mice in 1975 with selective breeding for glucose intolerance. Develop spontaneous non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus in an age-dependent manner, reaching 98% in males and 31% in females at 48 weeks of age. Neither severe obesity nor extreme hyperinsulinemia is seen at any age (Ueda et al, 1995).
